During its inaugural December 4, 2015 board meeting, Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) school trustees re-elected Mr. André Bidal as President for the 2015-2016 school year and Mrs. Anne Dechaine as Vice-Presidency for the same term.

A new school board trustee will represent CSCNO constituents in Zone 4

During its November 30, 2015 meeting, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) proceeded with the selection of a new schoolboardtrustee to represent constituents living in Greater Sudbury’s Zone 4 (Wards 1 to 4: Azilda, Chelmsford, Dowling and Lively). Mr. Marcel Montpellier was the selected candidate and will serve in this position until the next school board elections in October 2018.

ESC l’Horizon students put on their annual Christmas concert

École secondaire catholique l’Horizon invites the public to its annual Christmas community concert on Sunday, December 13, at 1:30 p.m. No less than 40 people will share their musical talents during this activity set to take place in the school located at 1650 Valleyview Road in Val Caron. Sudbury – The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) released earlier this week the results of Ontario’s grade 3 and 6 students from the 2014-2015 provincial testing. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is proud to announce that its elementary students (grades 3 and 6) have shown a steady improvement in reading, writing and mathematics over the last five years.

ESC Champlain teacher honoured for her efforts promoting peace

On November 19, École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) teacher Mrs. Carol Bradley-Whissell was honoured by the YMCA for her commitment to building peace within her community and elsewhere in the world. In recognition of her longstanding contributions towards the less fortunate, she was named Peacemaker and presented with a Certificate of Honourable Mention at the YMCA’s yearly Peace Medallion Ceremony.

Students and staff at École secondaire catholique Champlain (61 Brookside Drive, Chelmsford) will take part in a “Bucket Challenge” as part of the launch of the Adaptive ALS Canuck Foundation campaign, which supports individuals suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Members of the media are invited to this event, which is scheduled to take place in the school gymnasium on Thursday, November 12, at 10 a.m.

Sacré-Cœur teacher to receive the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy Outstanding Teacher Award

Mrs. Lorraine Savignac, a teacher at Sudbury’s École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur, will be honoured on Friday, October 30, during the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy’s annual meeting in Toronto, where she will be presented with the 2015 Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy Outstanding Teacher Award. The Federation’s award recognizes the contributions of a teacher who provides outstanding educational support and guidance to a student with cerebral palsy.
