ESC l’Horizon musicians to perform at Valley East Days’ Franco-Ontarian concert

Mandala, a band from École secondaire catholique l’Horizon in Val Caron, will perform on Saturday, September 12, at 3:30 p.m., at the Hanmer Shopping Centre during a Franco-Ontarian concert presented as part of Valley East Days. This free concert, offered to Valley East residents, will also include musician Dayv Poulin.

Innovative teacher shares her pedagogical knowledge with CSCNO staff

On August 25, management team and about a hundred teachers from the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) attended a presentation given by Mrs. Kim Bearden. This internationally renowned speaker is the cofounder, executive director, and language arts teacher at the highly-acclaimed Ron Clark Academy, an innovative middle school and educator training facility in Atlanta.

Le Centre des petits – a program that helps preschoolers succeed at school

With a view to supporting the future academic success of preschoolers, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) will again offer its Centre des petits program in many of its schools. This free program runs from September 14 to the end of June. It enables young Francophones between two and four years of age to play with their friends, parents or guardian while improving their French-language skills. Offered by qualified staff, the program will be offered in 13 CSCNO schools, and for the first time at École St-Joseph (Sudbury).

Appointment of an interim vice-principal at École Alliance St-Joseph

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Mélanie Leblanc as interim vice-principal at École Alliance St-Joseph in Chelmsford for the 2015-2016 school year. In addition to her teaching expertise, Mrs. Leblanc has accumulated a wealth of experience through her participation in various learning projects at École St-Denis in Sudbury. Among her contributions, we note her participation in blended learning initiatives for students and in the production of a television program for the Ministry of Education featuring the cultural pedagogical approach to teaching. Mrs. Leblanc was also responsible for a team of teachers during the meetings of professional learning communities dedicated to oral communication.

Young CSCNO Christian rockers celebrate the launch of their CD

Music students from eight Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) secondary schools celebrated recently the launch of their CD, which was recorded as part of the Rock dans l'âme (Rock and Soul) project. The album, a compilation of their work, became a reality through a new CSCNO cultural identity initiative that saw participants compose and record Christian rock music under the guidance of musician Jean-Guy “Chuck” Labelle.
