During the inaugural Board meeting on November 19, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon school trustees elected their leaders for the 2024-2025 school year. CSC Nouvelon is proud to announce that Mrs. Suzanne Salituri will continue her mandate as Chair while Mr. Marcel Montpellier will serve as Vice-Chair for the same term. For many years, Mrs. Salituri and Mr. Montpellier have demonstrated an outstanding commitment towards French-language Catholic education.

Mrs. Suzanne Salituri, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon President, is proud to announce the nomination of Mr. Tom Michaud to the position of Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Michaud brings his educational training, administrative management and relevant teaching experience in this field to the position. He will assume his new role on January 6, 2025.

On October 9, some 75 students as well as staff members from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) took part in the 14th Homeless for a Night event. With only cardboard boxes and tarps for shelters,
students were able to experience the reality of being homeless. They also collected non-perishable food items and monetary donations. Community members were able to stop by for a visit and donate to this great cause.

During the night of Wednesday, October 9, some 75 students from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) along with staff members will take part in the 14th annual Homeless for a Night initiative. This
awareness activity will begin at 4 p.m. on the ÉSC Champlain school property located at 61 Brookside Road in Chelmsford and conclude on Thursday, October 10, at 8 a.m.

The Government of Ontario recently released the 2023 student graduation rate for the province’s Catholic and public school boards. The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon takes great pride in the fact that 96.3% of its students complete the requirements for their high school diploma in five years, with 91.5% receiving their diploma in four years. The CSC Nouvelon students’ graduation rate is among the best of all school boards in Ontario (Anglophone and Francophone) and is the highest among all school boards operating in Northern Ontario. The CSC Nouvelon has the 2nd highest five-year graduation rate in Ontario and is 8th overall for its four-year graduation rate.

The forthcoming opening of the new French-language Catholic school in Val Thérèse was officially celebrated earlier today. Dignitaries, students, staff and members of the community gathered to mark the progress of construction and the planned opening of the new school in September 2025. The launch event, held on Franco-Ontarian Day, puts forward the new school’s strategic role in promoting French-language Catholic education and Francophone cultures in the communities of Val Thérèse and Hanmer.

We wish to inform you of an important change. Due to the risk of thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon, it has been decided to move this activity from the site of the new school to École Ste-Thérèse gymnasium. The school is located at 4617 Ste-Thérèse Street in Val Thérèse.
