With a view to supporting the future academic success of preschoolers, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) will again offer its Centre des petits program in many of its schools. This free program runs from September 14 to the end of June. It enables young Francophones between two and four years of age to play with their friends, parents or guardian while improving their French-language skills. Offered by qualified staff, the program will be offered in 13 CSCNO schools, and for the first time at École St-Joseph (Sudbury).
The features of the Centre des petits program include:
- enabling children to express themselves and play and learn in French through songs, rhymes, prayer, stories, games and a variety of activities;
- supporting creativity and imagination;
- developing self-esteem in a faith-based Catholic environment;
- learning at an individual pace;
- becoming initiated into school life; and
- developing and maintaining relationships with future classroom friends.
