June 9, 2015
On Thursday, June 11, at 11 a.m., some 1,500 grade 5, 6, 7 and 8 francophone students from some 30 Greater Sudbury, Sudbury East and North Shore schools will gather at Bell Park’s Grace Hartman Amphitheatre for the St-Jean Baptiste performance featuringthe francophone rock band MHS. The concert is presented through the collaborative effort of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) and the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO).
This quality 60-minute performance will mark the launch of the numerous St-Jean Baptiste activities to take place in Greater Sudbury through to June 25, 2015. With the presentation of this concert, partners want to expose students from French Catholic and public schools to a francophone cultural and pride experience and to reinforce their links with francophone community partners.
MHS (My Hidden Side) is a French-language Québec rock band whose three members are all brothers between 13 and 15 years of age. The young trio has been very successful success since launching their first album in the winter of 2014, a work in the purest pop-punk tradition. MHS makes us discover the secret world of today’s teenagers with energy and maturity.
MHS has more than 100 shows under its belt and has played the biggest festivals (Festival d’été de Québec, Francofolies de Montréal, Festival International de la Chanson de Granby, Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée, Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac, etc.), as well as performing in Québec and Ontario schools. The band put out a positive vibe that serves as an example to their young (and maybe not-so-young also) fans.
