The student teams from École St-Dominique (Sudbury) and École Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford) were dominant at the 12th annual French-language Battle of the Books competition held on April 30, 2015 at Collège Boréal and won the top two medals. The Nordiques from École St-Dominique pursued their domination at this event by winning the gold medal in the Francophone competition. École St-Dominique students have a well-deserved reputation of representing a school whose students devour books and love to read. This is the sixth time in the last eight years that this French Catholic school has claimed the championship.

Media representatives are cordially invited to Sudbury’s École St-Pierre to witness student’s Christian solidarity towards fellow student Olivia Moreira, a grade 3 student whose eye cancer is currently in remission. Assembled in the school gymnasium, three hair stylists will cut the hair of grade 3 students Sarah Boudreau, Hailey Giroux, Victoria Sauvé, France Thibodeau and Abby Ayotte as well as the hair of Victoria’s mother, Mrs. Nathalie Sauvé. The hair will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society and will be used to make wigs for persons having lost their hair following chemotherapy.
