Darquise Frappier, a grade 9 student at École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur (Sudbury), was recently presented the Diana Award. Established in memory of Lady Diana, Princess of Wales, this award is one of the most prestigious accolades a young person aged 9-25 can receive for his or her social action or humanitarian work. Princess Diana believed that young people have the power to change the world for the better. This award seeks to recognize young people all over the world who contribute to the well being of others through fundraising, volunteering or campaigning against bullying.
Three CSCNO secondary schools claim medals at regional Cardboard Boat Race competitions

Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) secondary schools stood tall at the Regional Cardboard Boat Race competitions which took place in Espanola, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay on November 27 and 28 with three teams taking home medals. Some 40 Northern Ontario teams from various communities took part in the challenge.

ÉSC Champlain student awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers

Isabelle Chevrier, a grade 12 student at École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) was recently awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers. The medal ceremony took place on November 14 at the WE Day event in Ottawa. The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers recognizes Canadians from across the country that stand out through their volunteerism in a variety of fields, honouring those who, because of their desire to make the world a better place, contribute to our country’s well-being.
