On November 15, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) held a public information session to provide an update on the proposed construction of a sports dome on the grounds of École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur. During the public meeting, the CSCNO was pleased at the considerable support voiced by numerous students, parents and community members. Attendees were able to see sketches of the dome produced by the firm of architects in charge of this project, Yallowega Bélanger Salach. They also learned about the process that led to a partnership agreement between the CSCNO and the Sudbury District Sports Club, and how the dome will be funded and managed, as well as its many benefits.

Several Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario schools will be hosting a book fair featuring French-language books and educational products in November. The book fairs will allow students and their families to choose from a variety of French-language educational products such as books, videos, DVDs, software, and educational games. The book fairs will also benefit the schools, as part of the profits will go towards the purchase of new educational resources. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) will host a public information session on Thursday, November 15, at 6 p.m., in the École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur gymnasium. This session will offer the community an update on the proposed construction of a sports dome on the school property located at 261 Notre-Dame Avenue in Sudbury. The public as well as members of the media are welcome to attend.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is pleased to congratulate the candidates in the recent school board election who were successful in their quest to serve as school trustees with the CSCNO. After all votes were cast on Monday, October 22, and on Tuesday, October 23 (in Greater Sudbury) the following trustees, representing the eight zones of the CSCNO, have been elected to its Board for a four-year term starting on December 1, 2018.

Four Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) school principals were recognized by the Association des directions et des directions adjointes des écoles franco-ontariennes (ADFO) on October 18 during the association’s annual conference in Toronto.

During the night of Wednesday, October 3, over 155 students from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) will take part in the Homeless for a Night activity, accompanied by four staff members. This year marks the 10th consecutive Homeless for a Night activity for Champlain. This awareness activity will begin at 4 p.m. in the Métro supermarket parking lot located on Errington Street in Chelmsford. The event will conclude on Thursday, October 4, at 9 a.m.

The Government of Ontario recently released the 2017 student graduation figures for the province’s Catholic and Public school boards. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) takes great pride in the fact that 92.7% of its students complete the requirements for their high school diploma in less than five years, with 89.2% receiving their diploma in four years. The CSCNO students’ graduation rate is among the best in Ontario and is the highest among all school boards operating in the districts of Sudbury, Manitoulin and Algoma.
