The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is proud to announce that Mr. Daniel Bourgeois has been appointed as Director of Human Resources. Mr. Bourgeois brings his educational training in administrative management and relevant experience in this field to the position, which he will take up on March 18, 2019.

On Tuesday, March 5, more than 30 students from four Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) secondary schools are to compete in the “On IMPROvise” (We IMPROVise) tournament at École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (1650 Valleyview Rd, Val Caron). This dynamic event will gather young improv aficionados from the host school, as well as from Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury), École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) and École secondaire catholique Franco-Ouest (Espanola). Media representatives are invited to attend what is certain to be a lively competition.

Mr. André Bidal, Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) President, and Ms. Lyse-Anne Papineau, CSCNO Director of Education, are proud to announce the nomination of Mr. Paul Henry and Ms. Tracey-Lynn Foucault to the position of Superintendent of Education. Mr. Henry and Ms. Foucault each possess a rich and varied experience in teaching and school administration at the elementary and secondary levels in Ontario.

In an effort to promote Pink Shirt Day, École catholique Félix-Ricard will host a variety of awareness activities for students that are aimed at helping them stand up to bullying both in and beyond the school environment. The day’s events will also serve to support one of the school’s students, who is ill with cancer. While the Pink Shirt Day is officially February 27, the activities at Félix-Ricard are scheduled for Thursday, February 28. Members of the media are welcome to attend.

On Wednesday, February 27, 140 students from several Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) elementary schools will be at Sudbury’s Lexington Hotel at 50 Brady St. from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the 16th edition of the Great Robotics Challenge (Le Grand Défi Robotique). Thirty-one teams will set out to build the most efficient robot while seven teams will take part in the video reporting contest. Members of the media are invited to attend the competition.

On Friday, February 22, 13 teams of grade 9 to 12 students from six French-language schools will gather at École secondaire catholique Champlain (61 Brookside Drive, Chelmsford) to square off in the Tournoi du Gros Cinq Sous (Big Nickel Tournament), a knowledge-based questions-and-answer competition inspired by the former Reach for the Top competition broadcast by CBC. Members of the media are invited to view the competition.

Black History Month will be celebrated in several Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools this year. École catholique Félix-Ricard (Sudbury) teacher Mr. Jean-Marie Ngouabe will take advantage of this opportunity to sensitize students at his school about African-American history and culture through events scheduled from February 19 to 21. Media representatives are welcome to attend these activities, which will take place at École Félix-Ricard, 691 Lasalle Blvd.
