Tenth annual CSCNO elementary school golf tournament

Media representatives are cordially invited to attend the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario’s (CSCNO) tenth Annual Elementary School Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 27. Over 70 grade 7 and 8 students will gather at the Twin Stacks Golf Club in Coniston (84 Smelter Rd) to take part in this annual friendly competition. Students from the following ten schools will be competing: St-Denis (Sudbury), St-Pierre (Sudbury), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), St-Augustin (Garson), Jean-Paul II (Val Caron), Ste-Marie (Azilda), Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford), St-Paul (Lively), St-Étienne (Dowling) and Saint-Joseph (Espanola).
CSCNO students to celebrate Franco-Ontarian day

Monday, September 25, 2017, is provincial Franco-Ontarian Day. Hundreds of Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) students along with staff and parents will observe this day with a multitude of activities in their schools and communities in celebration of the strength of their francophone community.
CSCNO elementary and secondary school students continue to distinguish themselves in provincial testing

Earlier this week, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) released the 2017-2018 provincial testing results for Ontario’s grades 3, 6, 9 and 10 students. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) notes that its students continue to perform at a high level, especially in mathematics.
Since 2012-2013, reading results of CSCNO grade 3 students rose to 84% (an 11% increase), displaying significant improvement in that subject area. Writing results now stand at 79% (a 1% increase), while mathematics results increased to 77% (a 3% increase). The CSCNO is proud to note that the results of its grade 3 students in writing and mathematics are above the provincial average for French-language school boards, while results in reading match the average.
New CSCNO student trustees to begin term

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is excited to be welcoming its two new student trustees for the 2018-2019 school year during its first official meeting taking place on Monday, September 24, at 7 p.m. at the board office at 201 Jogues St. in Sudbury.

A new school year begins on September 5

Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) staff are looking forward to welcoming students on Wednesday, September 5, the first school day of the 2018-2019 school year. This year’s theme “Vivre en disciples joyeux” (Living as Joyful Disciples) incites students to be fully open to the transforming love of God. This theme stems from the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario’s pastoral letter for Catholic education titled “Fulfilling the Promise”.
