Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools will celebrate Catholic Education Week under the theme “Living as Joyful Disciples”. From May 5 to May 10, school boards across the province will promote the added value of a Catholic education and the overall excellence of Francophone Catholic schools.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon (Nouvel-Ontario) celebrated the launch of its new logo and visual identity on May 1, 2019. After celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017-2018, the CSC Nouvelon decided at that moment that the time was right to develop a new logo that would reflect its evolution as well as its important contributions to students, staff and school communities.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Corinne Langevin as Vice-Principal at École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) and of Ms. Anne Marineau as Vice-Principal at École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie) for the 2019-2020 school year.

A team from École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie) will be heading to Louisville, Kentucky, from April 28 to 30 for the VEX Robotics IQ Challenge World Championship based on their outstanding performance at the provincial VEX Robotics IQ Challenge held in Brampton on March 2. The 400 best elementary school teams from 42 countries across the world will compete in the World Championship.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is pleased that its efforts in increasing its energy efficiency have not gone unnoticed. In fact, the CSCNO ranked 1st in the 2019 Top Energy Performing School Boards Report that measures the energy efficiency of Ontario school board for the 2016-2017 school year. The 72 school boards in the province were ranked on their energy savings potential, which is the gap between their target and current energy consumption values.

Collège Notre-Dame will host its annual Northern Cancer Research Foundation fundraising blitz this coming Thursday, April 25. The school expects that student participation in this year’s annual campaign—which was first held more than 30 years ago—will rise to nearly 300. Since the inception of the drive, close to $763,000 has been collected, and the school hopes to add another $25,000 this year.

Ms. Anne Ross-Boudreau, a teacher at École Jean-Paul II (Val Caron), was presented with the Sudbury Regional Science Fair’s Ambassador for Science Award during its April 7, 2019, awards ceremony. Ms. Ross-Boudreau, who has been teaching science for over 15 years at various Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools, currently shares her passion for the subject with grades 7 and 8 students at École Jean-Paul II. The Ambassador for Science Award honours a teacher for the help and encouragement provided to students throughout the preparation of their science fair projects.
