The Association franco-ontarienne des conseils scolaires catholiques (AFOCSC) (Association of Franco-
Ontarian Catholic School Board) honoured Ms. Anne Dechaine, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon
Trustee for Zone 7 (St-Charles, Markstay-Warren and French River) with its excellence in Catholic education
award during its 21st annual congress, which was held from May 23 to May 26 in Cornwall. The prize, which
was awarded during the closing ceremony of the congress, recognized the important contributions made
by Ms. Dechaine to French-language Catholic education in Ontario.

CSC Nouvelon to award nearly 400 secondary school diplomas

Close to 400 students from CSC Nouvelon’s nine secondary schools will be receiving their Ontario Secondary School Diploma between June 6 and June 27, 2019. Since its inception in 1998, CSC Nouvelon has awarded more than 8,600 diplomas. With rates of 93% in five years and 89% in four years, CSC Nouvelon boasts one of the best graduation rates in the province and the highest among all school boards operating in the districts of Sudbury, Manitoulin and Algoma. All students who attended CSC Nouvelon schools have had the opportunity of benefitting from a high-quality French-language Catholic education that acted as a springboard to a promising future.

ESC l’Horizon to host the Festival des Aigles

On Friday, May 31, École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron) will be holding their annual Festival des Aigles to celebrate its successes during the 2018–2019 school year that is coming to a close. The festival will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at ÉSC l’Horizon, 1650 Valleyview Rd in Val Caron.
An evening of music with Collège Notre-Dame’s Le Bistro

On Thursday, May 30, Collège Notre-Dame’s Le Bistro singing café will present its new repertoire to the public. The show will begin at 6:30 pm and take place in the senior’s cafeteria at the school located at 100 Lévis Street in Sudbury. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at Collège Notre-Dame’s main office or at the door prior to show time. Snacks will also be available for purchase during the intermission. All profits will go towards Sudbury’s Place des Arts as well as to the school’s music program.

CSC Nouvelon schools to offer warm welcome to incoming Kindergarten students

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s French-language Catholic elementary schools are inviting children who are starting Kindergarten in September 2019, along with their families, to take part in their “Bienvenue à la maternelle” (Welcome to Kindergarten) event.
This welcoming event promotes a smooth transition to Kindergarten and will include several activities for children and parents. Parents will also receive important information relating to speech development, social and daycare services, gentle beginnings schedule as well as school transportation.

More than 650 Francophone students from 106 French language Catholic and public secondary schools will gather in the Hanmer community of Greater Sudbury from May 17 to 20 to take part in the 26th edition of the Jeux franco-ontariens (Franco-Ontarian Games). Taking place at École secondaire Hanmer this year, this annual provincial gathering attracts a great deal of interest among students from the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon invites the media to attend the official launch of École Notre-Dame de la Merci’s new school library for the digital age. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 8, at 2 p.m. at École Notre-Dame de la Merci located at 2 Edward Avenue in Coniston.
