The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) will host a public information session on Thursday, November 15, at 6 p.m., in the École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur gymnasium. This session will offer the community an update on the proposed construction of a sports dome on the school property located at 261 Notre-Dame Avenue in Sudbury. The public as well as members of the media are welcome to attend.

The sports dome, managed by the Sudbury District Sports Club (SDSC), will be built on the grounds of the École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur, with construction planned to begin in the spring of 2019. The CSCNO expects to invest $300,000 in this project. Changes made to the Sacré-Cœur parking lot and the addition of external washroom facilities will benefit both students and the community at large. The new sports facility will include two artificial grass playing fields and will operate all year round.

The strategic location of the dome will make it possible for all students in the community as well as all residents of Greater Sudbury to benefit from a facility that encourages exercise and physical activity throughout the year. While CSCNO students are to have priority access during school hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), the mission of the dome is to serve students from all school boards in Greater Sudbury as well as the entire community.

The proposed sports bubble will be operated by the Sudbury District Sports Club. The SDSC will fund the project and operate the sports bubble.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
