Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer at the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon Ms. Lyse-Anne Papineau announced her forthcoming retirement at the regular Board meeting of June 20, 2019. First appointed to this position in 2008, Ms. Papineau has contributed to the superior quality of French-language Catholic education by implementing her vision: “French-language Catholic students, proud and ready to take their place in society.”

On June 13, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon had the great pleasure of awarding the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE) Frank Kelly Scholarship to École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur (Sudbury) grade 12 student Tyberius Newel. The Frank Kelly Scholarship, that includes a cash award of $2,500, was awarded for the first time this year to one student in each of Ontario’s four school systems.

On June 21, 24, 25 and 27, students at Sudbury’s École St-Dominique (2096 Montfort St., Sudbury) will participate in the 24th annual École St-Dominique Olympic Games. This school activity seeks to promote participation and fair play.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Jocelyne Leclair as Principal at Carrefour Options+ (Sudbury), of Ms. Line Bergeron as Principal at École St-Joseph (Dubreuilville) and of Mr. Simon Fortin-Ukrainetz as Principal at École Saint Nom de Jésus (Hornepayne) for the 2019-2020 school year.

Media representatives are cordially invited to attend the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon elementary school track and field competitions. Some 700 students from 15 elementary schools in Greater Sudbury will gather on the Laurentian University athletic track to take part in this annual friendly competition. Grade 7 and 8 students will compete on Monday, June 17, whereas the Wednesday, June 19, competition will attract grade 4, 5 and 6 students.

Students and staff at École Alliance St-Joseph in Chelmsford have the pleasure of inviting members of the community and members of the media to attend the official opening of their Jardin du Créateur (Creator’s Garden). The official opening ceremony will be held between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. outside the school, which is located at 3634 Errington Avenue in Chelmsford.

Greater Sudbury, June 3, 2019 – On Thursday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m., over 1,300 grade 6, 7 and 8 Francophone students from some 30 Greater Sudbury, Sudbury East, North Shore and other Northern Ontario schools will gather at Bell Park’s Grace Hartman Amphitheatre for the St-Jean Baptiste concert featuring the Francophone music group Les Rats d’Swompe and Fjord. The concert is presented through the collaborative effort of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO), the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) and Laurentian University.
