The Government of Ontario recently released the 2014 student graduation rates for the province’s Catholic and Public school boards. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) takes great pride in announcing that its students exceeded the provincial graduation rate average.

The 2014 provincial average for graduation within five years of starting secondary school was 84%, while 76% of students received their diplomas in four years. CSCNO students surpassed the Ontario average in both categories, with 92% of its students graduating in less than five years, no less than 8% above the average. With respect to the four-year graduation rate, CSCNO students attained the 88% level, 12% above the average. This is an outstanding achievement.

The CSCNO takes great pride in seeing its Catholic secondary school students consistently reach this level of excellence. Since 2009, the CSCNO student four-year graduation rate has systematically hovered around 88%. Of the 504 students who began their secondary school studies at a CSCNO school in 2009, 441 graduated in four years and 461 within five years.

“The CSCNO takes pride in observing that our strategies aimed at student success and the efforts undertaken in our secondary schools enable our students to reach a high level of excellence and benefit from a truly remarkable graduation rate,” stated CSCNO Director of Education Anne-Lyse Papineau. “Benefitting from the availability of quality programs such as the Specialist High Skills Majors, Co-op education and special skills training, our graduates are well equipped to become committed citizens who are motivated to surpass themselves.”

“We fully believe that our Francophone and Catholic school environment and the total commitment on the part of our teaching staff and families are valuable assets. While meeting the diverse needs of its students, the CSCNO shines in its ability to provide a learning environment that nurtures student success as well as their personal excellence,” added CSCO President André Bidal.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
