Due to social distancing measures, École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord, located at 117 Yougnfox Road in Blind River, has chosen to transport this year’s open house event to the living rooms of grade 8 students. As a result, these students and their parents are invited to participate in the high school's virtual open house on Wednesday, February 3, at 6 p.m. Students and parents interested in taking part in this virtual event are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon is proud to announce the appointment of Ms. Maryse Barrette as Superintendent of Business and Finance. Ms. Barrette brings her educational training, administrative management and relevant experience in this field to the position, which she will take up on March 1, 2021.

January 21, 2021

Committed to supporting students in their learning and helping them acquire the skills required to excel in the 21st century, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon completed the deployment of laptop computers in all of its secondary schools in January. All secondary school students now have access to a technological learning tool for the duration of their stay at CSC Nouvelon allowing them to further develop the basic skills and essential proficiencies that will support them in their future.

The health and safety of students and employees remains CSC Nouvelon’s top priority. Due to the declaration of a COVID-19 outbreak at École St-Denis (Sudbury) by Public Health Sudbury and Districts and in order to ensure the safety of students and staff, École St-Denis (Sudbury) will remain closed until Friday, January 29, 2021. At the moment, students are expected to resume their in-class learning on Monday, February 1. If this return date should change, the Conseil will inform parents of details.

January 7, 2021

Due to social distancing measures implemented to counter the spread of COVID-19, some French language Catholic secondary schools of the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon will transport this year’s open house event into the living rooms of grade 8 students. As part of these events scheduled to take place in January 2021, students will be offered a virtual tour of the school as well as a presentation that will allow them to get to know the teachers, meet high school students recognized for their leadership and become familiar with the various programs and activities offered by their future secondary school.Following this activity, students and families will be able to continue communicating with the French-speaking Catholic high school of their choice and register for the 2021-2022 school year. Although traditional school visits are not possible, CSC Nouvelon secondary school staff are committed to providing personalized support to grade 8 students and guiding them in their transition to high school. Some other CSC Nouvelon secondary schools have already held their open house event or will hold information activities for grade 8 students as part of the regular school day.

In order to support students during the virtual learning period, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon contacted the families of students in order to determine what learning tools (iPads and laptops) was required by the students. Since the return to learning on Monday January 4, 2021, CSC Nouvelon has distributed close to 1,000 technological tools to elementary students across its territory. Some families went to board office to pick up their iPad or laptop, the majority were distributed through schools. With the recent deployment of some 1,600 laptops in its secondary schools, high school students already have access to a laptop. CSC Nouvelon expects to complete the deployment of technological learning tools by the end of June 2021 thus ensuring that all students from grade 1 to 12 have access to an iPad or laptop. The CSC remains committed to supporting its families during these exceptional times.

Parents wishing to register their child in a French language Kindergarten program are invited to come discover Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s elementary schools during their Kindergarten Registration event in January. Due to the social distancing measures put in place to counter the spread of COVID-19, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools will offer a warm and personal welcome to families during the full-month of January. Although parents will be able to schedule an appointment with their selected school, access to the school will be limited. This event will be of interest to parents of children born in 2017 who will be attending school in September 2021.
