The Ontario Ministry of Education recently announced that it will grant the funding required for the purchase of property that will serve for the construction of a new French-language Catholic school in Hanmer / Val Thérèse. Having already received the capital funding for the construction of this new school, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon will be able to proceed with its project to build a new school for students currently enrolled at École Notre-Dame (Hanmer), École St-Joseph (Hanmer) and École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse). The CSC Nouvelon hopes to make public the site selected for this project in a few weeks.
“From modernizing our curriculum to revitalizing our classrooms and their facilities, we are investing in our students and giving them every tool to achieve their full potential,” added Minister of Education Stephen Lecce. “Our financing of the land purchase further demonstrates our government’s historic investment in Ontario’s schools and our overall commitment to supporting our students and families.”
“The funding to purchase this property is great news for working families in the Val Therese and Hanmer communities,” said Sam Oosterhoff, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education.” This investment will support a quality learning environment and new opportunities for local children so that they can realize their full potential.”
“We would like to thank the Ministry of Education for this great news that will allow us to proceed with this project of providing modern learning space for our Hanmer and Val Thérèse students, as well as a welcoming, engaging, healthy and safe environment focused on Christ,” stated Mr. André Bidal, CSC Nouvelon President.
“During our consultation process, our families stated their desire to offer students an appealing and user-friendly environment that will allow them to thrive in a green school designed for their future needs in this digital era. While respecting this wish, we will seek to offer our students and staff a new school that will meet their expectations and needs,” explained Mr. Paul Henry, CSC Nouvelon Director of Education and Secretary Treasurer.
The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon offers a French-language Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSC Nouvelon provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 6,600 students enrolled in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
