Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon (CSC Nouvelon), the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB), and Our Children, Our Future (OCOF) wish to inform all families that Espanola’s new educational and childcare build will be available for occupancy by September 2021, in time for the start of the upcoming school year. The new joint facility, located on Church and Mead Streets in Espanola, will house École catholique La Renaissance, Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School, and Our Children, Our Future Daycare / Garderie Nos Enfants, Notre Avenir.

The health and safety of students and employees remains CSC Nouvelon’s top priority. On the advice of Public Health Sudbury & Districts, all elementary and secondary schools from the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon located in Sudbury East, Greater Sudbury and Espanola will remain closed until Thursday, April 1, 2021. Day cares located in our schools will however remain open but will not offer before and after-school programs.

The musical talent of Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury) students will be showcased during the upcoming Quand ça nous chante music festival. This provincial event, offered to students from various French-language secondary schools from across the province, will be held virtually from Monday, March 22, to Wednesday, March 24. The Quand ça nous chante festival, run by the Association des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique, will enable students to take part in workshops on various aspects of music creation and recording.

The health and safety of students and employees remains CSC Nouvelon’s top priority. Due to frozen pipes in various parts of École Saint-Joseph (Wawa) affecting various parts of the school once again, École Saint-Joseph will be closed for all students from Kindergarten to grade 12 on Thursday, March 18. Students will not be attending school on Friday, March 19, as a professional development day was already scheduled.

With the intention to support families during this pandemic, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon Parents’ Participation Committee will offer families a comedy talk as well as techno-educational workshops. In light of the important contributions of parents to the learning and well-being of students, these activities aim to strengthen their engagement and encourage their participation in the education of their children. This program will kick off on Wednesday, March 31, at 6.30 p.m., with Martin Larocque’s conference entitled "La famille, mieux vaut en RIRE!” (Family, Better to Laugh About It!). This free conference will be broadcast on Zoom.

The health and safety of students and employees remains CSC Nouvelon’s top priority. On the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Ontario Government is activating an "emergency brake" in the Public Health Sudbury and Districts region, and moving it to the Grey-Lockdown level. The decision was made due to the concerning trends in public health indicators and in consultation with the local medical officer of health.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Daniel Bourgeois as Director of Finance and Purchasing. Mr. Bourgeois brings his educational training, administrative management and relevant experience in this field and in human resources to the position, which he will take up on March 29, 2021.
