The high quality of their science projects has enabled two Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon students to qualify for the 2022 Canada-Wide Science Fair taking place virtually this week from May 16 to 20. Maxine Maillet and Jasmine Lauzon, students at Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury), are among the thousands emerging Canadian scientists from grades 7 through 12 to participate in some 100 regional science fairs throughout the country. They will present their research as well as compete to represent their region in the Canada-Wide Science Fair.

On Thursday, June 9, at 6:30 p.m., Collège Notre-Dame’s (CND) Le Bistro singing café will present its new repertoire to the public. The concert will take place in the school gymnasium located at 100 Lévis Street in Sudbury. After two years without a live presentation, the students are proud to be able to present an in-person show. Tickets are $5 each and snacks will be available for purchase during the intermission. There will also be a sale of works of art created by the school’s visual arts students.

During its April 26, 2022 meeting, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon (CSC Nouvelon) announced that it will proceed with the selection of a school board trustee to represent constituents living in Greater Sudbury’s Zone 5 (Wards 7 to 12). This decision stems from the recent passing of former trustee André Bidal, who was first elected to serve as a CSC Nouvelon school trustee in 2000.

Junior and Senior Kindergarten registration in Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools is ongoing. Parents wishing to discover the school in their community as well as the preschool learning areas are invited to communicate with their French-language Catholic school. Children born in 2018 who will start school in September 2022 as well as children born in 2017 who are presently homeschooled will also be invited to take part in the Welcome to Kindergarten event (Fête à la maternelle) to take place in May and June in all CSC Nouvelon elementary schools.

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools will celebrate Catholic Education Week under the theme “Rebuild, Restore, Renew Together.” From May 1 to May 6, school boards across the province will promote the added value of a Catholic education and the overall excellence of Francophone Catholic schools.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon is proud to announce the election of a new student trustee for the Districts of Algoma and Manitoulin who will commence her two-year term on August 1, 2021. Mariska Lamothe, a grade 10 student at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River), will succeed Benjamin Dennie as student trustee for the Districts of Algoma and Manitoulin.
