Students, staff and friends of Espanola’s École catholique La Renaissance and Sacred Heart Catholic School celebrated the official opening of their new French and English-language Catholic schools earlier today. The outdoor ceremony, which respected COVID-19 restrictions and protocols, bore witness to the advancement of Catholic education in Espanola.

Mr. Morvan brings his educational training, administrative management and relevant teaching and learning experience in this field to the position, which he will take up on November 1, 2021.

The new joint facility, located on Church Street in Espanola, houses École catholique La Renaissance, Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School, and Our Children, Our Future Daycare / Garderie Nos Enfants, Notre Avenir.

All schools in Ontario’s 12 French-language school boards will unite on Friday, September 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., to celebrate virtually once again (Encore ensemble) Franco-Ontarian Day. Students from Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools will have the chance to participate virtually in this mega celebration and celebrate their belonging to the Franco-Ontarian community. The live broadcast will take place at mondrapeaufranco.ca and can be viewed until October 1.

This year, 17 Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon students were awarded a Bishop Alexander Carter Foundation Scholarship. The Foundation’s Performance Excellence Scholarship, valued at $1,000, was awarded to graduates of Catholic secondary schools in the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie who distinguished themselves as: enlightened believer, effective communicator, thoughtful thinker, independent learner, collaborator, considerate person and responsible citizen. The Foundation’s Excellence in Religious Teaching Scholarship, also valued at $1,000, was presented to the graduate of each high school who obtained the highest mark in this subject and illustrated themselves the most in school pastoral activities.

This summer, from August 9 to 20, the “Apprends-P’tit” program that will be offered virtually to future Kindergarten students who will begin their learning adventure in a Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon school in September 2021. This two-week program, offered via the Microsoft Teams platform, will allow students to familiarize themselves with the school environment. Through play-centred activities, children will be able to have fun in French and to meet new Kindergarten friends.
