On Thursday, September 22, some students and staff from École catholique La Renaissance (Espanola) will gather at their community's city hall to take part in a historic Franco-Ontarian flag raising ceremony. Having recently adopted a resolution to officially recognize the Provincial Franco-Ontarian Fay, the municipal council of Espanola will proceed with the raising of the Franco-Ontarian flag for the very first time in front of a municipal building.

While the provincial Franco-Ontarian Day will be observed on Sunday, September 25, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon students will celebrate this day along with staff and parents in their school on Thursday, September 22, or on Monday, September 26. They will be able take part in a multitude of activities in their schools and communities planned to honour the strength of their francophone community. The following is a list of activities hosted by CSC Nouvelon schools. Members of the media are invited to attend.

September 15, 2022

Starting in November 2022, Carrefour Options+, Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s continuing education school, will offer the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program in Sudbury. Offered to students 18 years of age and older, this program will allow those interested in becoming a PSW to be trained in French in order to provide care to individuals and families in a variety of settings, including long-term residential institutions and community home care agencies. CSC Nouvelon is the second school board to offer this program in French in Ontario.

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon staff members are looking forward to welcoming students on Tuesday, September 6, the first school day of the 2022-2023 school year. This year’s theme is “L’éducation catholique : À plusieurs, nous sommes un” (Catholic Education: Together in Faith). “So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.” (Romans 12, 5)

The Government of Ontario recently released the 2021 student graduation rate for the province’s Catholic and public school boards. The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon takes great pride in the fact that 95.9% of its students complete the requirements for their high school diploma in five years, with 93.3% receiving their diploma in four years. The CSC Nouvelon students’ graduation rate is among the best among all school boards in Ontario (Anglophone and Francophone) and is the highest among all school boards operating in Northern Ontario. The CSC Nouvelon has the 3rd highest five-year graduation rate in Ontario and is 5th overall for its four-year graduation rate.

Registration in Kindergarten as well as other grade levels is ongoing in Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools. Parents wishing to discover the countless benefits of French-language education are invited to contact the French-language Catholic school in their community. While children born in 2018 will start school in September 2022, those born in earlier years can register in a CSC Nouvelon elementary or secondary school, located in various communities in the Districts of Algoma and Sudbury-Manitoulin and benefit from their tradition of excellence.

On June 30, students from the music program at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River) celebrated the launch of the music video for their song “Illusion”. This project, made possible through the Ontario Arts Council’s Artists in Residence program, offered students the opportunity to work with artists including musician Jean-Guy “Chuck” Labelle.
