Some 1,400 grade 6 to 8 students to take part in St-Jean Baptiste concert

On Thursday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m., approximately 1,400 grade 6, 7 and 8 francophone students from some 30 Greater Sudbury, Sudbury East, North Shore and other Northern Ontario schools will gather at Bell Park’s Grace Hartman Amphitheatre for the St-Jean Baptiste performance featuring the francophone artists Mélissa Ouimet and Patrick Wright et les gauchistes. The concert is presented through the collaborative effort of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO), the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) and Laurentian University.

CSCNO students stand out at the 2017 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Two students from the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) stood tall at the 2017 Canada-Wide Science Fair as a result of the quality of their science projects. The national event, held this year in Regina (Saskatchewan) from May 14 to 20, drew 500 budding Canadian scientists from grades 7 through 12.

CSCNO schools to offer warm welcome to incoming kindergarten students

In the coming weeks, Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) French Catholic elementary schools will be offering a warm welcome to children who are starting kindergarten in September 2017 as well as their parents/guardians. All families having registered their children in a French language Catholic school are invited to the “Bienvenue à la mayternelle” (Welcome to Kindergarten) event. Parents who have not registered their children in a CSCNO school still have time to register for this event by calling their neighbourhood school.

The musical and artistic talents of École secondaire catholique l’Horizon and Collège Notre-Dame students will be on display on Saturday, May 27, during the upcoming La Brunante. Among the three finalists to perform at the concert for future Franco-Ontarian music stars will be the band 5 à 7 that showcases the musical talents of students from École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron) and Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury). The concert starts at 7 p.m. at the Collège Boréal auditorium.

More than 650 francophone students from 103 French language Catholic and public secondary schools will gather in Woodstock from May 19 to 22 to take part in the 24th edition of the Jeux franco-ontariens (Franco-Ontarian Games). Held at École secondaire catholique Notre-Dame under the theme “Là où les grandes routes se rencontrent,” this annual provincial gathering attracts a great deal of attention among students from the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO).

Collège Notre-Dame and École St-Paul students to compete in the 2017 Canada-Wide Science Fair

The high quality of their science projects has enabled three Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) students to qualify for the 2017 Canada-Wide Science Fair to be held in Regina on May 14-20. These students are among some 25,000 emerging Canadian scientists from grades 7 through 12 to participate in more than 100 regional science fairs throughout the country, where they present their research and their accomplishments and compete to represent their region in the Canada-Wide Science Fair.
