The Government of Ontario recently released the 2016 student graduation rates for the province’s Catholic and Public school boards. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) takes great pride in announcing that its students’ graduation rate is among the strongest in Ontario and remains the strongest among all school boards operating in the districts of Sudbury, Manitoulin and Algoma.

The 2016 provincial average for graduation within five years of starting secondary school was 86.5%, while 79.6% of students received their diplomas in four years. CSCNO students largely surpassed the Ontario average in both categories, with 93.8% of its students graduating in less than five years, more than 7% above the average. With respect to the four-year graduation rate, CSCNO students attained the 90.5% level, close to 11 above the average. This is an outstanding achievement.

The CSCNO takes great pride in seeing its Catholic secondary school students consistently reach this level of excellence. Since 2012, the CSCNO student five-year graduation rate has systematically hovered around 92%.

“The CSCNO takes pride in observing that our strategies aimed at student success and the efforts undertaken in our secondary schools enable our students to reach a high level of excellence and benefit from a truly remarkable graduation rate among the strongest in the Ontario,” stated CSCNO Director of Education Lyse-Anne Papineau. “Benefitting from the availability of quality programs such as the Specialist High Skills Majors, Co-op education and special skills training, our graduates are well equipped to become committed citizens who are motivated to surpass themselves.”

“We fully believe that our Francophone and Catholic school environment and the total commitment on the part of our teaching staff and families are valuable assets. While meeting the diverse needs of its students, the CSCNO shines in its ability to provide a learning environment that nurtures student success as well as their personal excellence,” added CSCNO President André Bidal.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
