Ontario, September 5th, 2017 — At the dawn of their 20th anniversary, the French-language Catholic school boards in Ontario are proudly celebrating the progress made.
For over 230 years, French-language Catholic schools have remained a social and cultural pillar of Francophone Ontario. Since their beginning in 1998, French-language Catholic school boards have pursued this long tradition of excellence.

A new school year begins on September 6

Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) staff are looking forward to welcoming students on Wednesday, September 6, the first school day of the 2017-2018 school year.
“We are always excited to see our new and returning students,” said Mrs. Lyse-Anne Papineau, CSCNO Director of Education. “With the support of our staff, parents and partners, we are committed to offering a quality French language Catholic education to all of our students.”

Collège Notre-Dame student to benefit from a professional artistic experience in Granby, Québec

Maxine Lemieux, a grade 12 student at Collège Notre-Dame in Sudbury, will be among the two dozen Francophone students from across the country taking part in the “Jamais trop tôt” competition. This contest, to be presented as part of the Festival international de la chanson de Granby (Granby International Music Festival), will take place in Granby, Québec. During five days, this 16-year-old artist will have received professional musical and artistic training to help her sharpen her artistic talents. The training will be completed on August 23, when Maxine will perform on stage during a professional concert featuring up-and-coming artists. |

A summer camp with great appeal to young basketball players

As in past years, young basketball enthusiasts from the Greater Sudbury are able to fine-tune their sports skills during the Franco Basket Camp organized by the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO). Some 50 children between the ages 8 to 13 years are taking part in this camp, from Monday, July 10, to Friday, July 14, at Collège Notre-Dame, located at 100 Lévis St, in Sudbury.

CSCNO students to represent Ontario at the Jeux de la francophonie canadienne

Six Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) students will wear Ontario colours at the upcoming Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (Canadian Francophone Games). Some 1,200 students from the 13 Canadian provinces and territories will compete in the Games that are being held in Moncton (New Brunswick) from July 11 to 15. The Canadian Francophone Games are among the largest gatherings of Francophone youth in Canada. In addition to encouraging hundreds of youngsters between the ages of 13 and 18 to exercise their talents in the fields of art, leadership and sports, the Francophone Games will showcase cultural pride, self-confidence and leadership abilities in a friendly competitive setting.

ÉSC l’Horizon to host Festival des Aigles

On Thursday, June 15, École secondaire catholique l’Horizon (Val Caron) will host a variety of activities for its own students as well as students and staff from its feeder schools during the school’s Festival des Aigles. It will be a fun-filled day whose goal is to encourage students to socialize and come together in a festive atmosphere. The day’s activities will take place at ÉSC l’Horizon, 1650 Valleyview in Val Caron.
