Delegates from several Belgian Catholic francophone educational institutions will visit Sudbury from October 22 to 26 to share strategies and ideas with staff from the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO). The ten principals from Belgium will tour several CSCNO schools and take part in discussions regarding the implementation of professional learning communities as well as other educational initiatives and practices.

On September 28, over 65 grade 7 and 8 students from ten Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools took part in the 9th annual CSCNO golf tournament held at the Twin Stacks Golf Club in Coniston. This competition enabled talented golfers from St-Denis (Sudbury), St-Pierre (Sudbury), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), St-Augustin (Garson), Jean-Paul II (Val Caron), Ste-Marie (Azilda), Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford), St-Paul (Lively), St-Antoine (Noëlville) and Saint-Joseph (Espanola) schools to benefit from a friendly competitive encounter with fellow students from neighbouring French Catholic schools.

During the night of Wednesday, October 4, over 120 students from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) will take part in the Homeless for a Night activity, accompanied by four staff members. This awareness activity will begin at 4 p.m. in the Métro supermarket parking lot located on Errington Street in Chelmsford. The event will conclude on Thursday, October 5, at 9 a.m.

As part of the festivities organized for their 20th anniversary, Ontario's eight French-language Catholic school boards and the Association franco-ontarienne des conseils scolaires catholiques (AFOCSC) join forces to recognize the work and exceptional commitment of the members of their school communities.

Sudbury  – The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) released earlier this week the results of Ontario’s grade 3 and 6 students from the 2016-2017 provincial testing. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) notes that its elementary students (grades 3 and 6) have shown a steady improvement in reading, writing and mathematics over the last five years.

Costco Wholesale will donate 420 back packs to the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) on Thursday, September 21, at 2 p.m., at École St-Joseph, Sudbury, 100 Bruyère St., Sudbury. The back packs, filled with school supplies, will be distributed to the CSCNO’s 27 elementary schools, who will ensure their distribution to students in need.

École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) is planning quite the celebration to highlight the provincial Franco-Ontarian Day. The celebration will begin on Friday, September 22, with the Festival Franco-Requins for students and will continue Saturday, September 23 with a Family Fun Day for the whole community. This fun-filled two-day celebration seeks to promote the vitality of the Franco-Ontarian community. All activities will take place at ÉSC Champlain, located at 61 Brookside Drive in Chelmsford.
