CSCNO secondary school students shine at the “Quand ça nous chante” music festival

Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) high school musicians had the experience of a lifetime at the 14th annual “Quand ça nous chante” music festival. Some 270 up-and-coming musicians from more than 30 Ontario Catholic and public francophone secondary schools took part in this gathering, which took place from February 9 to 12 in Rockland.

On January 26, students from Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools stood out at the North-Eastern Ontario Regional Elementary Cardboard Boat Race competition for elementary schools. Some 30 teams from various Northern Ontario communities met in Espanola to measure their ingenuity. École Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford) students were dominant as they won the gold medal while the team from École Ste-Marie (Azilda) claimed the bronze medal.

On Thursday, January 19, Espanola students from École secondaire catholique Franco-Ouest, École Saint-Joseph and Sacred Heart School will offer a warm welcome Joe Roberts, a former homeless youth and current entrepreneur, who will be pushing a shopping cart (a symbol of chronic homelessness) through the streets of Espanola. This stop is just one of many in the Joe Roberts 9,000 kilometre, 517-day “Push for Change” trek across Canada initiative for raising awareness and funds to help end youth homelessness.

Kindergarten registration to take place in CSCNO schools on January 23-27
Parents wishing to register their child in our full-time Kindergarten program and explore the benefits of French Catholic education are invited to visit the elementary schools of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) during its Kindergarten Registration event from Monday, January 23, to Friday, January 27. This event will be of interest to parents of children born in 2013 who will be attending school in September 2017. All parents who wish to explore the many benefits that a quality French language Catholic education can provide their children are cordially invited to attend, along with their families.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Marcel Bouchard as Principal at École Sacré-Cœur in Chapleau and Mrs. Chantal Lafleur as Vice-Principal at École Alliance St-Joseph in Chelmsford. Mrs. Lafleur will start her new duties on January 9, 2017 where Mr. Bouchard will begin on January 30, 2017.

Members of the media are invited to attend the official presentation of important donations from Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario board office staff to four Greater Sudbury charities. The following organizations will each receive a donation valued at $4,494.40: Maison Vale Hospice, Maison Vale Hospice – Supportive Care Program, Health Sciences North – NEO Kids Foundation, Health Sciences North – Northern Cancer Foundation and the Association des jeunes de la rue (Youth Homeless Association). The total amount of donations offered by employees is $22,472.
