Secondary school students from Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon will participate in HEADSTRONG, an evidence-based anti-stigma initiative aimed at inspiring students to Be Brave, Reach Out and Speak Up about mental health. The summit will take place on Thursday, October 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Collège Boréal.

Earlier this week, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) released the 2018-2019 provincial testing results for Ontario’s grades 3, 6, 9 and 10 students. The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon notes that its students continue to perform at a high level, especially in reading.

Every year, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon awards its Vision Scholarships to outstanding graduating class students who have fulfilled the requirements of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Valued at $500, the scholarship is awarded annually to two students from each CSC Nouvelon secondary school and one from Carrefour Options+. Laureates, selected by the principal of their school, must reflect the CSC Nouvelon vision: “Thriving French-language Catholic students, proud and ready to take their place in society.” The scholarships were awarded to the following students in June 2019 during the board’s secondary school graduation ceremonies.

The provincial Franco-Ontarian Day will be observed on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Hundreds of Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon students will celebrate this day along with staff and parents, with a multitude of activities in their schools and communities planned to honour the strength of their francophone community. The following is a list of activities hosted by CSC Nouvelon schools on September 25. Members of the media are invited to attend.

École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) is planning quite the celebration to highlight the provincial Franco-Ontarian Day. The celebration will begin on Sunday, September 22, with a Family Fun Day for the whole community and will continue on Monday, September 23, with the Festival Franco-Requins for students. This fun-filled two-day celebration seeks to promote the vitality of the Franco-Ontarian community. All activities will take place at ÉSC Champlain, located at 61 Brookside Drive in Chelmsford.

The Government of Ontario recently released the 2018 student graduation figures for the province’s Catholic and public school boards. The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon takes great pride in the fact that 93% of its students complete the requirements for their high school diploma in less than five years, with 91.3% receiving their diploma in four years. The CSCNO students’ graduation rate is among the best among all school boards in Ontario and is the highest among all school boards operating in the districts of Sudbury, Manitoulin and Algoma.

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon staff are looking forward to welcoming students on Wednesday, September 4, the first school day of the 2019-2020 school year. This year’s theme “L’éducation catholique : Allumer la flamme de l’espérance ” (Catholic Education: Igniting Hope) incites students and staff to celebrate the good work and hope of Catholic education now and in the future.
