Since they have not yet reached an agreement with the government, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF), which represents support staff in all of Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’ schools and at the board office, will conduct a one-day full strike and withdraw all services in certain regions of Ontario on Friday, February 28, 2020. The Sudbury and Manitoulin Districts are among the targeted areas.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon proudly adopted the name of its new school in Espanola during its January 28, 2020 board meeting. After consulting students, families and school staff from the community, it was decided that the new school, which will open for students from Kindergarten to grade 12 during the 2020-2021 school year, will be called École catholique La Renaissance.

The Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO), the union that represents teaching staff, short- and long-term supply teachers in all Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools, as well as the board learning consultants, will conduct a one-day full strike – withdrawal of all services – across the province of Ontario on Friday, February 21, 2020 since no contract agreement has yet been reached. The Districts of Sudbury, Manitoulin and Algoma are among the targeted areas.

From February 18 to 22, seven Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon students will be among the 80 Franco-Ontarian students to take part in the 14th Provincial Francophone Youth Parliament. This activity will enable students to become familiar with Ontario’s parliamentary system and the workings of the Ontario Legislative Assembly.

We wish to inform our families and members of the community that although some regions of the province are affected by school closures due to negotiations, all Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools will remain open next week (February 3-7, 2020).

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon celebrated earlier today the official opening of Carrefour Options+ new learning environment on the second floor of the St. Albert Learning Centre, located at 504 St. Raphael Street, in Sudbury. The ceremony also featured a new partnership between the CSC Nouvelon and the Sudbury Catholic District School Board. Both Catholic school boards take pride in joining efforts to offer quality French- and English-language Catholic education.
