During the night of Wednesday, October 8, 104 students and six staff members from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) will take part in the Homeless for a Night activity. This awareness activity will begin at 4 p.m. at the Métro supermarket parking lot located on Errington Street in Chelmsford. The event will conclude on Thursday, October 9, at 9 a.m.

Sudbury’s Collège Notre-Dame (CND) figured prominently in the “Projet de l’œuvre à l’Expo 2014” arts competition held by the Association francophone pour l’éducation artistique en Ontario. The competition, which attracts the participation of many Francophone schools from across the province, seeks to encourage excellence in the arts and enable students to follow their artistic vision and produce a standout final work.

Sudbury – On September 26, 56 grade 7 and 8 students (48 boys and 9 girls) from nine Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools took part in the 6th annual CSCNO golf tournament. This competition enabled the talented St-Denis (Sudbury), St-Joseph (Sudbury), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), St-Augustin (Garson), Jean-Paul II (Val Caron), Notre-Dame (Hamner), Ste-Marie (Azilda), Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford) and Saint-Joseph (Espanola) golfers to benefit from a friendly competitive encounter with fellow students from neighbouring French Catholic schools.

Sacré-Cœur student to share leadership at We Day Toronto

Mélanie-Rose Frappier, a grade 12 student at Sudbury’s École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur, is one of the young leaders invited to share their passion and leadership at the upcoming We Day in Toronto. During this national event that will mobilize thousands of youths from across Canada at the Air Canada Centre on October 2, Mélanie will participate in an Aboriginal Panel and will be called on to share her Francophone, Catholic, and Métis heritage pride.

Lors de la réunion ordinaire du 23 septembre 2014, le Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) a approuvé la consolidation des écoles Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse), St-Joseph (Hanmer) et Notre-Dame (Hanmer) en une nouvelle école de la maternelle à la 8e année sur un nouveau site. Ce projet de construction est conditionnel à l’obtention du financement du ministère de l’Éducation de l’Ontario par le CSCNO.

Three hundred CSCNO students to take part in historic Franco-Ontarian flag-raising ceremony in Blind River

On Thursday, September 25, at 1 p.m., some 300 students and staff from the North Shore’s French Catholic Schools (École Sainte-Anne in Spanish and École Saint-Joseph and École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord in Blind River) will take part in an historic flag-raising ceremony at the Blind River District Health Centre, located at 525 Causley Street. Once raised, the Franco-Ontarian flag will be permanently flown in front of this health institution, which serves the North Shore communities and has partial French language designation. Members of the media are invited to attend.
