Sudbury’s Collège Notre-Dame (CND) figured prominently in the “Projet de l’œuvre à l’Expo 2014” arts competition held by the Association francophone pour l’éducation artistique en Ontario. The competition, which attracts the participation of many Francophone schools from across the province, seeks to encourage excellence in the arts and enable students to follow their artistic vision and produce a standout final work.
Collège Notre-Dame took home both a school and a student award. CND grade 12 student Marc Ranger earned first prize in the senior category for his work “Réflexions,” a construction made of plaster bands and mixed media collage. As the top winner among senior students, Marc received $175 and a certificate of excellence.
The school award recognized the sure-handed work of CND visual and media arts teacher Julie Courtemanche in directing her students in their artistic efforts and for ensuring their commitment to their work at every step of the way.
