Students from Sudbury’s École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur have been contributing for over a year to a community initiative in support of the Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope program, which provides transportation to patients being treated at the Northeastern Cancer Centre. Last fall, our student volunteers planted no less than 2,200 daffodils in the green spaces of Sudbury’s Flour Mill Neighbourhood.

On Thursday, September 25, at 10:15 a.m., over 2,100 elementary and secondary students from some 15 Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools will gather at Place Bonaventure (4764 Regional Road) in Chelmsford to take part in the celebration of the provincial Franco-Ontarian Day. As it has since 2008, this annual Francophone pride event will begin with an animated march and conclude with a host of events on the École secondaire catholique Champlain school grounds (61 Brookside St.). All members of the community are invited to attend this event organized by Champlain students and staff. First held in 2008, this pride building activity is very popular among CSCNO students, staff and families.

Sudbury  – Yesterday, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) released the results of Ontario’s grade 3 and 6 students from the 2013-2014 provincial testing. The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) is proud to announce that its elementary students (grades 3 and 6) have shown a steady improvement in reading, writing and mathematics over the last five years.

Through a partnership with Our Children, Our Future, this important service is available at Carrefour Options+, located at 1311 Gemmell Street in Sudbury.

The CSCNO wishes to remind parents that there will be no early dismissal, and that students will depart from school at the regular time.
