On Friday, March 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., grade 9 students from École secondaire catholique La Renaissance (Espanola) will take part in the activity entitled "Explore Construction Trades". This activity, offered through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), will take place in the premises of the Carpenters' Union, located at 159 Marier St. in Azilda.

Through a partnership with Collège Boréal, some grade 11 and 12 students from École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur (Sudbury) interested in pursuing a career in mechanical technology are pursuing their passion in a very stimulating learning environment. Registered in the Motors 1 dual credit program (DCP) since February, these students are learning in modern facilities at Collège Boréal. While completing high school level courses, students will be able to take college or apprenticeship credit courses.

École secondaire Notre-Dame-du-Sault’s (Sault Ste. Marie) robotic team will be heading to Dallas, Texas, from April 25 to 27 for the VEX Robotics World Championship. No less than 800 teams from around the world will compete in this high-level robotics competition. The Notre-Dame-du-Sault team, made up of Sophie Barrette, Liam Spacek, Gabriella Gutierrez and Luke Dallaire, is led by coach David Spacek.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon (CSC Nouvelon), Rainbow District School Board (RDSB), Sudbury Catholic District School Board (SCSDB) and Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord have approved the School Year Calendar for 2023-2024.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon is pleased to offer once again its Centre des petits program at École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (600 North St., Sault Ste. Marie) starting on March 21. This program seeks to support the future academic success of preschoolers. This free program enables youngsters between two and four years of age to play with their friends, parents or guardians while improving their French-language skills.

This year, parents and guardians of Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon students will have the opportunity to follow two free French as a second language programs. The Beginner 1 program will run for 15 weeks whereas the Beginner Conversation program is an 8-week course. Both programs, starting March 27, 2023, will be offered online by Collège Boréal. These programs will support Anglophone and Allophone parents as they learn and communicate in French to better support their child’s learning. The cost of the courses is covered by the CSC Nouvelon Parent Involvement Committee. However, spaces in both programs are limited.

To mark this important milestone, L’École catholique has prepared various activities for students and staff, including a highly original competition that will bring out the beautiful smiles of its school community, which is at the heart of these celebrations: 25 years of smiles!
