On June 30, students from the music program at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River) celebrated the launch of the music video for their song “Illusion”. This project, made possible through the Ontario Arts Council’s Artists in Residence program, offered students the opportunity to work with artists including musician Jean-Guy “Chuck” Labelle.

This winter, under the guidance of their teacher Mr. Michel Levac, the students were able to compose the song “Illusion.” Subsequently, Chuck Labelle joined the group to share his knowledge in production and musical composition in order to support students and allow them to reach their creative potential.

In May, the students experienced two days of musical creation in a studio under the direction of Chuck Labelle. Afterwards, they worked with Mr. Léo Duquette of Media Concepts and took part in the video production for their song. During this portion of the project, the students participated in the writing and conceptualization of the script for their music video. Committed and motivated, the students took on the roles of extras in the filming and succeeded in mastering various elements of music and video production.

“I take great pride in leading such a wonderful project that helped channel our students’ artistic passion through a high-level production and by allowing them to develop their creative talents,” explains Mr. Michel Levac, teacher at ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord. “Supported by Franco-Ontarian experts, Jeunesse-Nord students had the opportunity to work as a team, live a valuable cultural experience as well as invest a great deal of passion in a video production. »

The music video for the song “Illusion,” produced by ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord students, can be viewed on the CSC Nouvelon YouTube Channel.
