Due to shut off of water pipes due to work being done on the municipal water infrastructure in the vicinity of École Saint-Joseph (Blind River), the school will be closed for all students from Kindergarten to grade 8 on Monday, November 6, 2023.

École secondaire Notre-Dame-du-Sault to offer Open House event

Grade 8 students and their parents are invited to take part in École secondaire Notre-Dame-du-Sault’s Open House event on Thursday, November 16, at 6 p.m., at the school located at 600 North St. in Sault Ste. Marie.

ÉSC Champlain gives back to the community following its 13th annual Homeless for a Night activity

On October 4, some 90 students as well as staff members from École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) took part in the 13th Homeless for a Night activity. With only cardboard boxes and tarps for shelters, the students were able to experience the reality of being homeless. They also collected non-perishable food items and monetary donations. Community members were able to stop by for a visit and donate to this great cause.
ÉSC l'Horizon graduate presented with a national Academic Perseverance Scholarship

As part of the activities of the 33rd conference of the Fédération nationale des conseils scolaires francophones (FNCSF) held in Sudbury from October 26 to 28, the Regroupement national des directions générales de l'éducation (RNDGE) awarded the Academic Perseverance Scholarship to three graduates of French-language schools in a minority setting. Among the students honoured with this $1,000 scholarship, which recognizes courage, perseverance, and commitment, is Aiden Thibert, a graduate of École secondaire catholique l'Horizon (Val Caron). The Academic Perseverance Scholarships recognize the success of all students, regardless of their academic results, and encourage the pursuit of post-secondary studies in French.

Carrefour Options+ and Villa St-Gabriel Villa celebrate the launch of the first Personal Support Worker Living Classroom program in French

On October 17, Carrefour Options+ (Sudbury), Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon’s continuing education school, in partnership with Villa St-Gabriel Villa (Chelmsford) celebrated the launch of a full enrolment into its first Living Classroom for students registered into the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program.
Supporting Anglophone and Allophone parents in their efforts to help their child learn in French

This year, parents and guardians of Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon students will have the opportunity to follow two free French as a second language programs. The Beginner 1 and Beginner 2 programs are both 15-week courses. and will be offered online by Collège Boréal starting October 16, 2023. These programs will support Anglophone and Allophone parents as they learn and communicate in French to better support their child’s learning. The cost of the courses is covered by the CSC Nouvelon Parent Involvement Committee. However, spaces in both programs are limited.
Fifty-seven students take part in the annual CSC Nouvelon elementary schools golf tournament

On September 28, 57 grade 7 and 8 students (35 boys and 12 girls) from eleven Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools took part in the annual CSC Nouvelon elementary schools golf tournament held at the Twin Stacks Golf Club in Coniston. This competition enabled the talented golfers from St-Denis (Sudbury), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), St-Pierre (Sudbury), Jean-Paul II (Val Caron), Notre-Dame (Hamner), Ste-Marie (Azilda), Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford), St-Paul (Lively), St-Antoine (Noëlville), St-Étienne (Dowling) et St-Thomas (Warren) to benefit from a friendly competitive encounter with fellow students from neighbouring French-language Catholic schools.
