On September 28, 57 grade 7 and 8 students (35 boys and 12 girls) from eleven Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon schools took part in the annual CSC Nouvelon elementary schools golf tournament held at the Twin Stacks Golf Club in Coniston. This competition enabled the talented golfers from St-Denis (Sudbury), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury), St-Pierre (Sudbury), Jean-Paul II (Val Caron), Notre-Dame (Hamner), Ste-Marie (Azilda), Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford), St-Paul (Lively), St-Antoine (Noëlville), St-Étienne (Dowling) et St-Thomas (Warren) to benefit from a friendly competitive encounter with fellow students from neighbouring French-language Catholic schools.

The four-player team from École St-Paul (Lively) claimed the top prize with an average score of 38. École Jean-Paul II followed in second place with an average score of 40, École Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford) in third place with an average score of 42 while École Ste-Marie (Azilda) came in fourth with an average score of 43.

The École St-Paul team members include Liam Hagen, Maxime Landry, Logan O’Shaughnessy, Anderson Marolt, Luca Boucher, Olivier Lapointe, Chloé Boucher et Magalie Thériault. They are coached by Mr. Daniel Lachance.

Mr. Paul E. Henry, Director of Education and Secretary Treasurer for the CSC Nouvelon, strongly believes in the merit of these competitions. “Our elementary schools’ sports and intramural leagues enable our students to strengthen their athletic and social skills in a French Catholic environment. While these quality activities contribute to the health and well-being of our students at the elementary level, we also focus on excellence in our secondary schools, as can be confirmed by our students’ success at the regional, provincial and national levels.”

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon offers a French-language Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSC Nouvelon provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 5,900 students enrolled in 27 elementary, 1 virtual school and 10 secondary schools.
