During its Festival Franco Requins and Family Fun Day activities this September 23 and 24, École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford) will host a variety of fun-filled activities for its students and for students and staff from its feeder schools and the community at large. The two days of fun-filled celebration will also promote the vitality of the Franco-Ontarian community. The Festival Franco Requins and Family Fun Day will also mark Franco-Ontarian Day, which will be celebrated on September 25. All activities will take place at ÉSC Champlain, which is located at 61 Brookside Drive in Chelmsford.
Grades 4 to 8 students and staff members from École St-Étienne (Dowling) and École Ste-Marie (Azilda) will joint École secondaire catholique Champlain students on Friday, September 23 at the Festival Franco Requins event. Some 500 students and adults all dressed in green and white will participate in the celebration of Franco-Ontarian vitality at ESC Champlain. The day will begin at 9 a.m. with activities and games, and will also include a flag-raising ceremony at 1 p.m.
Champlain’s Family Fun Day, hosted by the school’s students and staff, will take place on Saturday, September 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The activities will include nine inflatable games and obstacle courses, a mini-golf, Schlocky Hockey and many more activities for guests of all ages. Tickets are $5 per person.
Franco-Ontarian day, celebrated officially since 2010, will take place on September 25. The date marks the anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag, which was flown for the first time in Sudbury in 1975.
Students and staff from É.s.c. Champlain and the CSCNO take great pride in celebrating our flag’s 41st anniversary. While recognizing our Francophone and Catholic heritage, this activity promotes the excellence and dedication of our students and staff as they seek to widen their Francophone space and fully live their culture in the province of Ontario.
