June 3, 2016

On Thursday, June 9, at 10:30 a.m., approximately 1,900 grade 6, 7 and 8 francophone students from some 30 Greater Sudbury, Sudbury East, North Shore and other Northern Ontario schools will gather at Bell Park’s Grace Hartman Amphitheatre for the St-Jean Baptiste performance featuringthe francophone folk rock band Hey Wow. The concert will also benefit from the contribution of Sudbury’s Stef Paquette, and is presented through the collaborative effort of the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO), the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) and Laurentian University

This quality 120-minute performance will mark the launch of the numerous St-Jean Baptiste activities to take place in Greater Sudbury. With the presentation of this concert, partners want to expose students from French Catholic and public schools to a francophone cultural and pride experience and to reinforce their links with francophone community partners.

Hey, Wow is a Franco-Ontarian alternative-traditional festive band recognized for its spirited performance. Hey Wow is the new band from Jean-Marc Lalonde. Well known as the accordionist from La Ligue du Bonheur and Deux Saisons, Jean-Marc has set aside his checkered shirt for a more modern sound. With a crazy accordion, an ominous bass, frenzied drums and a sumptuous-sounding electric guitar, Hey, Wow defies any preconceived ideas of festive orchestra.
