Some 250 delegates from Ontario’s eight French language Catholic school boards will gather in Sudbury on Tuesday, April 19 and Wednesday, April 20 for the Éducateurs de la foi catholique en Ontario (Catholic faith Educators) congress. The theme of the congress, which will be held at the Holiday Inn in Sudbury, is “Lead me to my Mission” (Mène-moi à ma mission). Attendees will include some 180 administrators, managers, academic advisers, teachers and pastoral leaders, as well as 65 students from the eight Francophone Catholic school boards.
Over two days, delegates will attend various workshops led by academic advisers from the eight Catholic school boards and by invited guests from Ontario and Alberta. “What Is my Mission as a Young Catholic?” will be the topic at workshops for students, which will be led on the first day of the congress by staff from the Notre-Dame de la Rouge Centre. Among the invited guest speakers is clinical sexologist Sister Marie-Paul Ross, whose keynote address is entitled, “Sexual Education for Youth: How to Humanize Sexuality.”
The congress will conclude with a celebration of the Eucharist by Monsignor Serge Poitras, liaison bishop assigned to the Office Provincial de l’Éducation de la foi Catholique de l’Ontario (OPÉCO), and Monsignor Vincent Damphousse, newly appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie.
The congress was organized with the support from OPÉCO and Ontario’s eight Francophone Catholic school boards. The Franco-Nord, Aurores Boréales, Grandes Rivières and Nouvel-Ontario Catholic School Boards are proudly hosting this event.
