The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) congratulates the class of Mr. Sylvain Prévost at École Jean-Paul II for winning Historica Canada’s “How We Remember” contest. This nation-wide contest challenged students from across the Country to create a piece around the theme of remembrance of either the First or Second World War.
M. Prévost’s students won first place over dozens of group submissions from across Canada with their submission, the production and presentation of a dance commemorating Canada’s involvement in the First and Second World Wars. Judges at Historica Canada were impressed by the many different styles of movement, the costumes, song choice and originality of the students’ submission.
On January 20, Mr. Prévost and his class of 30 students will visit the Art Gallery of Sudbury and the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario to celebrate their achievement. The students will participate in a fun glow-in-the-dark art workshop at the Art Gallery, and will receive their winning certificates from Historica Canada. In the afternoon, the students will take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario.
Historica Canada is the country’s largest organization dedicated to enhancing awareness of Canada’s history and citizenship. For more information, visit www.historicacanada.ca.
