On January 9 and 10, some 300 grade 3 and 4 students from a dozen Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) Catholic elementary schools had the opportunity to compete in the boys, and girls’ floor hockey tournament. This friendly competition, which took place at École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford), attracted close to 1,000 spectators over the two days.
On Saturday, January 9, 13 CSCNO schools took part in the boys’ grade 3-4 tournament. The Comètes from Val Caron’s Jean-Paul II edged the Lynx from École Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford) by the score of 6 to 5 in the championship game.
The following day, 11 schools competed in the girls’ grade 3-4 tournament that promoted friendly competition, fair play and francophone camaraderie. École Alliance St-Joseph Lynx (Chelmsford) were declared the overall champions of the tournament after defeating Sudbury’s École St-Denis Tigres by a score of 6 to 3.
