On January 17 and 18, more than 350 grade 3 and 4 students from 15 Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) Catholic elementary schools had the opportunity to compete in the boys, and girls’ floor hockey tournament. This friendly competition, which took place at École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford), attracted more than 1,100 spectators over the two days.
On Saturday, January 17, 16 teams representing 15 CSCNO schools took part in the boys’ grade 3-4 tournament. The Lynx from Chelmsford’s École Alliance St-Joseph edged the Tigres from École St-Denis (Sudbury) by the score of 6 to 2 in the championship game.
The following day, 13 schools competed in the girls’ grade 3-4 tournament that promoted friendly competition, fair play and francophone camaraderie. École Ste-Thérèse Dragons (Val Thérèse) were declared the overall champions of the tournament after defeating Sudbury’s École catholique Félix-Ricard Jaguars by a score of 3 to 2.
