WHAT?
Remembrance Day Ceremony at École Jean-Paul II
Media representatives are cordially invited to attend a Remembrance Day ceremony organized by students and staff at École Jean-Paul II (Val Caron) on Thursday, November 6, at 10 a.m. To commemorate Remembrance Day, the school will host a ceremony that will also be attended by representatives of the Canadian Legion Branch 553 from Chelmsford.
Following the playing of the national anthem on the bugle by five students, music teacher Sylvain Prévost will get the ceremony started with bugle renditions of the “Last Post” and “Réveille.” Following the laying of the wreath, the father of a student will play the bagpipes and a school student choir will sing and act out the poem “In Flanders Fields.” Some 60 grade 3 to grade 6 students will then present a dance created for the ceremony aimed at stimulating reflection. Students and staff have also invested many hours in decorating the school entrance and gymnasium for the ceremony.
