On June 5, Mélanie-Rose Frappier, a grade 11 student at École secondaire du Sacré-Coeur in Sudbury, will stand among a group of students from across Canada selected to receive the prestigious Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 Award (20 ados avec brio). Held annually, the Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 Awards recognize 20 young people under the age of 20 from across the country, chosen by members of the Order of Canada for their exceptional leadership, innovation and achievement. Youth in Motion will celebrate the 20 recipients during the Top 20 Under 20™ Awards Breakfast Celebration, to take place in Toronto.
Mélanie-Rose is an active community leader, striving to make a difference in people’s lives through her contributions. Bright and articulate, she takes great pride in her Francophone, Catholic, and Métis heritage. While serving as a Youth Ambassador of Canada, Mélanie-Rose Frappier created It’s Cool to be Healthy (C’est cool d’être en santé), an interactive program that educated students on the benefits of exercise and proper nutrition.
She has given countless hours of her time volunteering in her community, and assumed a youth leadership role on a number of community organizations including the Aboriginal Advisory Education Committee, and the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples. Mélanie-Rose is a recipient of the National Aboriginal Youth Achievement Award and the Gathering Our Voices Aboriginal Youth Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership and dedication to improving her community.
Mélanie-Rose Frappier will attend both the Top 20 Under 20™ Awards Breakfast and Top 20 Under 20 Leadership Summit. They will attend seminars on leadership, branding and networking, and develop long-lasting connections with their fellow Top 20s. As part of the year-long program, recipients also receive mentoring and exclusive access to Youth in Motion's monthly “In Conversation” series with leaders from various sectors and industries.
