More than 350 students take part in the CSCNO floor hockey tournament
On February 1 and 2, more than 350 grade 3 and 4 students from a dozen Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools had the opportunity to compete in the boys and girls floor hockey tournament.
This friendly competition, which took place at École secondaire catholique Champlain (Chelmsford), attracted more than 1100 spectators over the two days.
On Saturday, February 1, 16 teams representing 14 CSCNO schools took part in the girls’ grade 3-4 tournament. The Lynx from Chelmsford’s École Alliance St-Joseph edged the Tigres from École St-Denis (Sudbury) by the score of 2 to 1 in the championship game.
The following day, 16 teams from 13 schools competed in the boys’ grade 3-4 tournament that promoted friendly competition, fair play and francophone camaraderie. École St-Dominique Nordiques were declared the overall champions of the tournament after defeating Val Caron’s École Jean-Paul II Comètes by a score of 5 to 1.

The following schools competed in the tournaments: Ste-Marie (Azilda), Alliance St-Joseph (Chelmsford), Notre-Dame de la Merci (Coniston), St-Étienne (Dowling), St-Augustin (Garson), Notre-Dame and St-Joseph (Hanmer), St-Joseph (Espanola), Jean-Paul II (Val Caron) as well as Félix-Ricard, St-Denis, St-Dominique, St-Joseph and St-Pierre (Sudbury).
The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence.
