The Ministry of Education is encouraging area school boards to work together to address student accommodation needs in Elliot Lake. As a result, the Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) and the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) are collaborating to determine how to best deliver education in English and in French in this community.

The goal is to maximize the use of existing space while ensuring that all students continue to have access to the best possible programming.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel Ontario (CSCNO) operates one French Catholic elementary school in Elliot Lake – École élémentaire catholique Georges Vanier.

Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board has two English Catholic elementary schools in Elliot Lake – Our Lady of Lourdes French Immersion Catholic School and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School.

Each school board will host a public information session with their respective school communities on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 7 pm. The CSCNO will hold its session at École élémentaire catholique Georges Vanier (140 Hillside Drive North) while HSCDSB will hold its meeting at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School (139 Mississauga Avenue).
