On Tuesday, October 22, several grade 6 to 8 students from seven Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) schools will participate in the EcoLeague. This learning-based ecological activity, presented by Learning for a Sustainable Future, will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m on the Laurentian University campus. The following CSCNO schools will be represented: École St-Joseph and École St-Denis (Sudbury); École St- Antoine (Noëlville); École Ste-Thérèse (Val Thérèse); École St-Thomas (Warren); École St-Augustin (Garson); and École St-Paul (Sudbury).

During this activity, students will participate in workshops designed to challenge and motivate them to engage in inspiring and rewarding community and school-based sustainability action projects. Students will learn about action projects they can undertake in their school and community, while teachers will learn how to support their students in engaging in curriculum based action projects.

Participants will be supported in the development of their school and community action projects. Students are also expected to benefit from this learning activity that seeks to promote student engagement and the creation of partnerships between students and community partners.

Following the EcoLeague Forum, schools will be able to apply for up to $400 in funding to support the implementation of their community-based action project.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
