Greater Sudbury, May 29, 2013)
On Thursday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m., some 1,900 grade 6, 7 and 8 francophone students from some 20 Greater Sudbury, Sudbury East, North Shore and other Northern Ontario schools will gather at Bell Park’s Grace Hartman Amphitheatre for the St-Jean Baptiste performance featuring the Franco-Ontarian artist Damien Robitaille. The concert is presented jointly by Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO), Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) and La Slague, with support from Laurentian University, the University of Sudbury, Collège Boréal, the Centre de santé communautaire du Grand Sudbury, and the Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario du grand Sudbury.
This quality 30-minute performance is the launching event of the St-Jean activities to take place in Greater Sudbury until June 24, 2013. With the presentation of this concert, partners want to expose students from French Catholic and public schools to a francophone cultural and pride experience and to reinforce their links with francophone community partners.
Damien Robitaille’s charm and originality have enabled him to build a faithful and growing fan base. A charismatic performer, pop music genius and enlightened poet, Damien is the incarnation of the ideal of the complete modern man. But did we know he also possessed the gift of omnipresence? In his third album, "Omniprésent" – that strictly phonetically speaking, follows in the wake of his earlier albums ("L’homme qui me ressemble" and "Homme Autonome")–Damien Robitaille breaks new ground, proving once again that no musical genre can resist his impassioned touch. His new show will simply enthrall audiences with its contagious energy.
Damien Robitaille will also present a public concert on Thursday, June 6, at 7 p.m., at the Grace-Hartman Amphitheatre as part of St-Jean-Baptiste festivities.
