On Saturday, May 25, at 11 a.m., some 50 Chapleau residents will take part in the 3nd annual Run for the Fight against Cancer organized by École secondaire catholique Trillium. Participants in this event may choose to walk or run a distance of 2, 5 or 10 kilometres. The registration fee for this fundraising event is $25 for people 12 years of age and over and $15 for participants 12 and under. Organized by school students and staff, this activity is an annual fundraising event in the fight against cancer. Proceeds from the race will be presented to the local Relay for Life organizing committee.
There will also be a draw for prizes awarded to lucky runners and/or walkers. The first Run for the Fight against Cancer attracted some 50 participants and raised a total of $626.
This year, ESC Trillium staff members are also busy organizing a team for the Relay for Life in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. While promoting values such as charity and generosity among students, this activity will also make them aware of the impact of cancer on families all the while promoting physical fitness.
