The staff at the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon board office will donate no less than $8,404 to five Greater Sudbury charities to help support those in need this Christmas season.
The Sudbury Food Bank, Maison McCulloch Hospice, Neo Kids Foundation, ALS North East Ontario and Association des jeunes de la rue de Sudbury will each receive a donation of $1,680.80. Throughout the year, CSC Nouvelon board office employees are offered the opportunity to contribute $2 each week to take advantage of dress-down Fridays.
This initiative is among the many other charitable endeavours at numerous CSC Nouvelon schools and at the board’s head office. A number of schools prepared Christmas hampers for underprivileged families of the community, while some have begun a non-perishable food drive for their community church or food bank. Still others have chosen to help children in foreign countries by contributing to the Samaritan’s Purse Canada Operation Christmas Child. Finally, CSC Nouvelon’s head office staff donated clothing and personal hygiene items to the Centre de santé Communautaire du Grand Sudbury and the Association des jeunes de la rue de Sudbury.
“The generosity of our students and employees is a fine demonstration of the value of helping one another, which is so central to Catholic education,” stated CSC Nouvelon Director of Education and Secretary Treasurer, Mr. Paul Henry. “I am proud to be part of this group of people who are so committed to contribute to the well-being of the less fortunate members of our communities.”
The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon offers a French-language Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSC Nouvelon provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 6,100 students enrolled in 27 elementary, 1 virtual school and 10 secondary schools.
