Students from Chelmsford’s École secondaire catholique Champlain showed exemplary scientific know-how at the 7th annual Science Olympics which was held at Science North on November 1st. This competition, which promotes scientific knowledge among students, enables teams of grade 9 to 12 students to measure their skills in a series of scientific time-trials events.
Two teams from ÉSC Champlain participated in this year’s competition, a junior and a senior team. The senior team, made up of Isabelle Chevrier, Emily Whynott, Ryan Guse et Francis Beaudry took home the gold medal in the senior division. Meanwhile, the junior team of Vanessa Morris, Danika Aubrey, Sébastien Ménard and Corson Morin-Hannon performed well in the intermediate division, but did not earn themselves a medal this year.
“I take great pride in our students’ success and desire to excel at this regional event. Their success at the Scientific Innovation Olympiad is truly outstanding, since the goal of this knowledge competition is to inspire the students’ interest in sciences, engineering and technology, all of which is directly linked to our school’s academic goal,” stated Mr. Yves Laliberté, ÉSC Champlain Principal.
The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario offers a French Catholic Educational Program that is widely recognized for its excellence. The CSCNO provides a quality learning environment and academic program that runs from early childhood to adult education, with some 7,000 students in 27 elementary and 10 secondary schools.
